Maryam Deyhim takes first prize in Art Brut. Thom Bierdz, American Art Awards president, explains the popular online contest is juried by 25 esteemed American galleries but open to artists in all countries. Deyhim is primarily a self-taught painter but accomplished in animation and graphic design. “The creative process starts with lines,” the pretty twenty-seven year-old Iranian explains. “Inspiration can come from anywhere and from anything.” Encouraged by her partner, Paul, she has already exhibited internationally.
